Dexter L. Reaves, former City of Greer Police Officer, Greenville County Sheriff's Deputy and former Executive Director for Pleasant Valley Connection, Incorporated. The Greer resident has over twenty-three years of public service experience. 

For years, Dexter has openly and formally endorsed numerous candidates from different parties running for sheriff, city council, and county council. Dexter showed his commitment to the citizens of Greer and Greenville County when he ran for sheriff in 2008 and 2012.  Dexter was also appointed to the Greenville County Human Relations Commission by District 18 County Councilman Mike Barnes. He is also the 1st Vice Chair for the Greenville County Democratic Party.

One of his personal and professional goals is to run for a local public office in which he can combine his wisdom, experience and love for the Greer Community to help improve the lives of the citizens in his community, state, and nation.

His campaign slogan, “Visibility and Awareness,” expresses exactly what he is about and what he represents.  Dexter plans to be a visible and connected council member who will keep his constituents informed of all issues and concerns.

For two years, Dexter has served as Executive Director for Pleasant Valley Connection, Incorporated, a childcare and community center in Greenville, SC.  Prior to this position, Dexter was as an Intervention Specialist in the Greenville County School District for over 10 years. 

Also, he is a former Greenville County Sheriff’s Deputy and a Police Officer and Boot Camp Director of the City of Greer Police Department.  While working as the Boot Camp Director, Dexter led the program in winning multiple local, state and national awards. Dexter is a member of Tuscan Masonic Lodge #21, and Phi Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, located in Greer, SC, where he serves as President. He is a former member of the Rotary Club of Greater Greer.

Dexter states, “I am ready for the challenge that I am embarking upon. Greer is a wonderful and progressive city in which to live and serve. I will provide enthusiastic and servant leadership, continue to engage the city’s constituents, and help propel Greer as a premier city in South Carolina and our nation! I am committed to the citizens of Greer, and as your councilman, I will be visible and keep you aware of what is impacting our great city!”
